Today as i walked calmly on my daily walk in yuanshen road nearby the Stadium, From a distance i saw a white skinny dog wagging its tail and walking towards my direction.
I stopped and said," Yeee?" (Its an utter in chinese of confusion and excitement. E.g. "Yeewhat is this?")
Then i pat her head and give her a head and body massage. Her fur is quite smooth and sparkling, so i thought somebody must have taken care of her or her owner must be somewhere nearby.
I looked to the left, then to the right, Yee??! Nobody seems to claim this dog!
I looked at her in a pity mode, she just doesn't want to go away from me and keep on following me afterwards.
She sits beside me then i squat down and start to pet her some more. My brain start thinking, "Is this a street dog?" "Can i bring her home?" "What about Westin?" "I already have a dog at home..and two dogs would be a mess.."
So i decided to leave her alone, I can't bring her home...
I tried to walk into the Stadium, then the guards stopped me. "No!no! No dogs are allowed in here!"
"Huh?"I turned around, and there she is! Still following me! I looked at her, she seems wanting to go home with me..but i just can't bring her home with me!She is not small...u know..
When i was about to walk away, some local Chinese guy came over and squat beside me, trying to claim the dog. He said to me to wait there with the dog, he will go and get a leash.
I looked at him in super suspicion. He looked like a poor chinese guy who lived in the streets or something. I am not racist or anything, but i know the local Chinese people eats dog!
So i asked him,"Whose dog is this? Is this your dog?"
He answered in a grin, i can see his yellow stained teeth..,"No, it is not my dog.."
Then i asked him again, looking at him in total suspicion,"Then why you want to take it home? I am going to take her home with me.." I said.
He answered back,"No, No, you cannot take her home. You cannot."
I asked back,"Why not?"
The guards also said,"Yeah, why not? This is a street dog! I saw this dog pass by here yesterday.."
That guy insisted to me,"No, no, you cannot take it home! Do you know whose dog is this?"
"No?!"I shake my head. But not letting go of the dog.
He lied,"It's the old man's dog who just went inside that building not long ago.."
"Oh, Really?"I said,"Then why don't we bring this dog to her right owner, then?"
He tried to carry the dog on his arm, but she is smart, she knows, she can sensed that this man is a bad person. So she refused and try to run away.
But when i approached her and tried to carry her,she kept quiet and let me carried her.
So i carried her on my arms, she is not small, u know, then i crossed the streets to the other side, to the place where that bad man said her owner was.
But my suspicion was right, that man was lying! After i crossed the streets, i immediately put her down and on the other side, there are that bad man's friends, another man and a woman, a very ugly looking woman with some of her teeth missing. She and the other man tried to capture the dog, but the dog backed off and ran away. Smart dog!
Then the woman said to me,"Why you let it go?!Aiyaa i really want to take it with me!" She grinned, showing some of her missing teeth.
I asked her,"Why you want to bring it home?"
She lied,"er..I want to play with it..it seems fun..!"
Yea, right. I looked as the dog scattered away. Then i went inside the building to recheck whether there is really her owner there. But none, no owner. I knew he lied all this time.
When i went out of the building 5 minutes later, i cannot find the dog anywhere. Then i see that 3 bad people is still chasing after the dog! Luckily the dog was quick enough and ran inside an apartment complex nearby.
Ok, this is enough, i said to myself, I have to bring it home! And then decided to give it away again later, rather than to let her be the dish of this 3 crazy local chinese people.
So i followed the trail and went into the apartment complex. But i cannot find it anywhere. There is even a crazy guy who approached me in his crazed look and said,"Hi..Can i touch your butt? I will pay you money... to touch your butt.."
I ignored him as if he is not there. Then i asked some of the old people around that apartment whether or not they see a whitish doggy went by. They all said no. Some even said that their eyes is not good anymore.
I almost lost hope...well, at least she is save from that 3 crazy locals for now..
When i was about to head back, to my excitement..there she is!
Walking towards me! As if she knows that i am looking for her!
She immediately came over and wiggle her tail in excitements.I am excited too!
Okay, furry hair, i decided to take YOU home with me!
So i pat her on the head and told her to come home with me. To my surprise, as if she can understand what i am saying, she followed me!
When i was about to exit the apartment complex, i still asked the guards whether he knows whose dog is this? I just want to make sure i didn't take someone else's dog's home.
They said they do not know. And they agreed if i take it home.
So i said to myself, usually taxis doesn't accept dogs to get into their cab, but if i can find a cab who want to take you with me, i am definitely going to bring you home!
I call her brownie and she listens to me! Even followed me to the cab. And to my surprise, as if it is faith, the cab stopped and allowed me to bring Brownie inside his cab!
So i brought brownie home with me, give her food and drink, and shower her.
Brownie is very content and calm. Even when i shower her, she just stand there not giving me a hard time like westin did. And she is very calm. Just lying down and relax, not actively running here and there.
Westin is the one who is super excited to see Brownie, he just cannot stop sniffing her and it makes her annoyed. She keeps on growling at Westin as if saying,"Leave me alone! I just want to have peace and quiet!"
Well, now i need to find Brownie a new owner, who does not eat dog!
UPDATED 12 MARCH 2009
I am so happy to announce that BROWNIE has found herself a good home, with dr Scott and his family, dr Scott apparently knows a good deal of dogs, his occupation is a medical doctor, he came from the USA with a young wife from the Philippines and a young 2 years old toddler name Sophie.
Brownie is officially adopter for their 2 years old daughter, Sophie. Amazingly, when dr Scott tried Brownie's aggresiveness by asking Sophie to play tug of war with her, Brownie seemed to know that Sophie would not be able to withstand her strength if she really pulls hard like when she is playing with me. So instead she was being really carefull and gentle. Dr Scott also tested her by giving Sophie a dog snack, and we wanted to see how Brownie takes the snack off from Sophie's hand. Sophie did not want to give it to Brownie, but Brownie remained calm and patient. She took it slowly by following Sophie around and lick it off her tiny little hands!
I am amazed! Especially by the fact that Brownie somehow knows that Sophie is a baby unlike me or the other adults, she can differentiate this!
Happy to me and Happy to Brownie! She is such a lucky dog!
Now i am ready to save another one!!
Luv
Mae
