Harald is the Engine Business Manager of Crytek. A successful game development company that was founded by 3 Turkish brothers. These 3 brothers were said to be taken in as heroes by their local Turkish people in Turk due to their success in Germany especially because of their success in the gaming industry, which is not very often that this kind of success could happen for the Turkish people themselves considering that they are one of the many immigrants in Germany.
They were so successful with their game Crysis. And now they are promoting their new powerful game Engine, Cry Engine 2.
Harald is a very charming man. He is intelligent. And he certainly has a lot of experiences in life. Well, he is the age of my father!
But Harald does look very young, you will not believe it if he is 50 years old something! Because he looks like and acts like a 35 years old man!
I was so shocked when he told me that he is 50. Harald offered me a job in Crytek as technical artist for the Cry Engine 2. With my teaching skills, i should learn about the engine and educate other people about it.
Wow---I'd love to! This is like the perfect job for me! I love teaching and i love game! What more is there than teaching in the game industry?
Tara Casey, the recruiter at Crytek contacted me through email. And told me that Michael Endres and Chris Evans, the lead technical artist would want to have a telephone interview with me. I almost jumped from my seat! I can't believe this is really happening to me! When Harald asked me whether or not i wanted to join his team during the China Joy exhibition, i enthusiastically answered yes! I'd love to! More than anything to join your team! But i never thought that it will actually come true, that they will really call me and everything.
I just got a 30 minutes telephone interview with Michael Endres, the art production manager of Crytek about a week ago. They called me straight from Frankfrut, Germany to Shanghai, China on an international call. The interview went well. Now i just have to wait for the invitation letter to come.
Then i will fly to Frankfurt for an on site interview. If everything goes well, i will be working for Crytek!
I cannot wait for all this to happen!
Wish me luck!
Updated November 2008:
I did not get the job, but i am still optimistic that i need to work even harder ! Anyway just being there for 10 days is already amazing enough for me! I am still grateful to God because whatever happens, i believe it is for my best. I got another offer, though, and ironically, i got this offer when i was sitting behind the computer in Crytek!
There is another German game development company who opened a branch in Singapore, and they are looking for staff member.
