When i played this game, i remembered a game that i played not long ago, The Everlight. The scenery and environment style, the character style, and everything else in the game looked so familiar!
So i checked, and yeah, the same game dev studio made it. But i was surprised to know that Simon the Sorcerer 4 actually came out first in Feb 2007 while Everlight came out in 2008, because Simon the Sorcerer 4 is a much better game than Everlight.
The vocal talent of Simon is interesting and has characteristic while the vocal talent in Everlight is sooooooooo boring!
And the story in Simon is much more interesting because the dialogs are witty and some of them are so funny that i laughed out loud by myself until my dog stared at me as if i went mad.
Although the character in Simon cannot be said pretty or handsome, which i dont really get it why they make the main character has such a big nose and not good looking, but he got a personality, thanks to the vocal talent.
The Music in this game is also interesting. It has a fun sense in it.
Movement: the movement is a little bit stiff, but OK, although when Simon runs, looked a little like slow motion run.
The double click skip area feature worked really well, never not working.
The overal game design is nice. The inventory is a little weird, because i can take so many items that it makes me confused what am i suppose to use this for?
The story puzzle, like what item should i combine or interact with, and what should i do next, is not so hard to guess, sometimes Simon will say what he wanted to do, but if not, i can take a look in the journal.
The journal is also very useful since it has clue in it up to 3 different level.
An adventure game without a journal or clue on what to do next is very stressing. Because it means i have to take a guess, and wrong guess means i have to go to ALL the area in the game, talk to ALL the people and try to interact ALL the items! Over and over and over again. I hate this kind of game.
Well, Simon is not bad to play! I hope you can enjoy it!
