Oh my goodnees! This game is REALLY good! I am so happy that i got to play a good, entertaining, and funny game with great cartoonish style graphics!
The cartoonish style are done in 3D form, and what is interesting about this game is the brilliant ideas of the game character's design. These characters are taken from other movies or games and are modified.
For example, there is a pirate as those pirates in the movie The pirates of the Caribbean, and then there is the horde demon from World of Warcraft, the good fairy from Cinderella, plus the story is super funny, entertaining, and brilliant!
Such as the demon horde was looking for a place where he can be a dungeon keeper in a newbie island. If you have ever played MMO RPG, usually the 'newly born' heroes are put in a newbie island where they kinda learn the games and their character, something like a tutorial island before they can move on to the 'real' world inside the game. hmmm...if i am not wrong, this is in Guild Wars, right?
And also inside the game, Ceville is accompanied by a little girl named Lilly, during their adventure together, this is the very first time where i can feel the connection between these two characters that goes deeper and deeper becoming an lovely friendship!
I can feel and listen that Ceville, the evil Tyrant goes softer from his voice towards Lilly after sometime in the middle towards the end of their adventure together, when he called Lilly's name, i can hear the softnees and care in his voice! It is so unbelievable!
Those two vocal talents REALLY MADE those two characters alive! And the other vocal talents did a SUPER GREAT job as well! They really made their characters become alive and stands out from other games.
The character's graphics quality are not bad, but not superbly textured as well. Such as the Heroine ambassador, she is quite basic compared to the high tech and super detailed characters of 3D games nowadays in term of texturing and modeling.
But although some of the other characters also have a standard texturing, it does not make the game look bad at all because of the super duper cool, funny story and lively personality characters!
The background setting are great in graphical sense with satisfying texture and colors, their beautiful cartoonish style saves them all! Not to mention the great music tool.
No doubt a great game! The puzzles inside the game are not too far out of logical thinking as well. What i mean here, there are clues given all around on how to move on and finish your task. Unlike in some games where the idea and ways of finishing the task is sooo unbelievably wrong and weird since it got NOTHING to do with the task itself or the objects provided which drives me crazy and feels like killing the person behind it.
However, moving on...for some that are a little difficult,
i can give you tips on what to do when you are stuck!
You do know that by pressing the spacebar will show you all the objects on the screen, right?
But then, to safe you a hell lot of time, instead of trying to click an object from the inventory and then click it with other objects one by one on the screen, you can just click on one of the object in you inventory, drag to it an empty space on the screen and then press space bar, if any of the objects on screen is highlighted in orange after you do that, that means that is the right object for you to interact with it. Even the other objects in your inventory will also be highlighted in orange if somehow you can combine these objects together.
These are the color code and the meaning after you click on an object in the inventory and drag it on to an empty space on the screen (not on top of any objects on the screen):
1. Gray: you cannot interact with this object. This object is mostly for examining only.
2. Red: You can interact with it, but maybe you got the wrong object, or you can only interact with it, without using any objects
3. Orange: You got the correct object to interact with it.
But sometimes even if the objects turn orange, you cannot interact with it. (but you can still try!) It is only for Ceville or Lilly or the other characters to make funny remarks about it. Mostly it is Ceville's crazy ideas such as to cut off the bridge...(he he he* evil laugh).
This is the game designers idea, i assume, to make sure that you do not miss any of the comments and get full experience of the game.
And this is certainly a good idea!
Important notice: Do not use this too much! Use it only when you are really stuck! If you can still solve it by your own brain tweaking, then please do so, or else you will not get the full fun of the game!
The movement is done by point and click, with double clicking to skip cut scenes and conversation, which is super useful, i surely would not want to keep on hearing the same conversation again and again without being able to skip it! one more plus point for this game!
They also provide autosave for you ...for every 5 minutes of the game! I seriously find that this will pilled up lots of saved games and wasted lots of spaces. I hope they can improve it in the future by saving the games every 5 minutes and then deleting those autosaved that are considered to be far behind (as the game is progressing) automatically.
Bug:
I bought the original ceville and i found a serious bug in the scene where i am supposed to play as 3 people in turns, as Ambrossius, Lilly and Ceville in Ceville's castle.
This is a deformed polygon. The vertex of the outer castle building on the balcony where Ambrossius is at is attached wrongly to other vertex on another object below the garden with the tiny lake where Lilly is at.
This created a triangular polygon with no texture or color that is stretched from above the castle to below the garden and obstructing view.
Wow...What did the QA department got to say to this?
And i did experience several crashes to my window. But after i restart the game and load my autosave game, it did fine.
I was warned in the handbook about these crashes.
Next time please pay more attention on the QA please!
Your games are good. I am willing to buy another one!
I was thinking though, don't you think that a cartoonish style game should be made in...you know... semi 3D cartoon (2Ds that are drawn like 3D)? Instead of a 3D cartoon? hehehe
And then, one last thing, i also like the zooming in style when i look into things. It is totally cool and give me a better view of the object without making me dizzy! What i love best is the spooky graveyard background zoom-in view where i got to see the moon shining down on the graveyard and everything!
Bottomline, cool job everyone! Bottoms up!
Cant wait for the next Ceville!
