I am a fan of Agatha Christie novels. I think it is quite difficult to be able to translate all the plot and stories and characters from the novel into a game.
From all the previous Agatha Christie game, i think this one has lots of improvements already.
What makes this game cannot be fully enjoyed is because of the complexity. Hasting playing as Poirot from a living room, and having to answer questions regarding the mystery, including the additional mysteries.
The Character: The main character, Poirot, is displayed as similarly as possible from the Poirot in the novel. With his egg shaped head, the voice, the style, even his walking style is believeable. They did make Poirot come to live.
The Vocal talents and audio guys: They did a great job, especially the talent that voiced Poirot. Since i heard him, now everytime i read an Agatha Christie novel with Poirot in it, i can hear myself imagining his voice, and it helped me a lot picturing Poirot as a person.
The music is also nice.
The Graphics: They have good graphics, great even. With effects and stuff.
The character animation: Need a lot of improvement. At the ending, when they all went out to the front of the hotel, all of them actually looked like zombies walking. It made me laugh.
The animation itself is also badly made. Even zombies move better than that.
The characters can only open and close their mouth when talking, without actually mouthing them, if you know what i mean.
The storyline: I cannot say that Agatha Christie wrote a sucky story, can i? Agatha did a great job, its just that the game writer need to give a much deeper thought on how to successfully transfer all that into a game and actually make it interesting. It is not that easy i tell you! The reason is because there are too many people, more than 14 people inside the game. Each can become a suspect.
The gameplay: What made this game a little bit annoying in my opinion is because i have to go to all the area one by one to see what is new happening. The setting is in an island, a hotel, and the main island where the shops are. Those 14 or more people are scattered there, and they kinda walk around the place. So i have to go to every area to meet them and talk to them. These people only moves when a chapter has been finished. And they talk shortly. The conversation is quite short.
I must have walked round and round more than 20 times. Luckily the double click skip an area option worked very well, or else i would drop this game already. If i am playing it 2 to 3 hours a day, it would be nice. Since i dont have to go round and round the area too many times a day, and when i start the game the next day, i might have been freshened and will not mind going round the area again.
But if i play it for 4 hours and more, i started to get tired of going round and round the area.
But still, this game is enjoyable. Although some people give a very bad ratings in some online game reviews, i still think this game is OK.
Lots of other games are worse than this. I guess it is up to the taste of the gamers.
The Inventory system: OK, no problem, although can still be improved. Like when some objects that can still be interacted with after collected, they should have made it viewable in 3D and can be interacted instead of just clicking the magnifying glass button then automatically retrieve what is inside or hidden inside that object.
Also, the character who died, when Poirot found the body, nothing much can be done.
I also found that some of the important things that the other character said inside the game did not actually exist. For example the sea tractor driver said he drove a doctor who examined the dead body, but the doctor never met Poirot or never found in the island. I think it is important for Poirot to consult with the doctor.
The barman said something about the treasure's clue in a painting, but the painting was never there.
Bug found: Inside the hotel lobby near the main door, there is a walk icon at the bottom left near the sofa, this icon is not supposed to be there, because the icon says to follow mr North, and mr North is somewhere else in the island. Its a bug, i tell you!
Well, i am ready to play my next game now, altogether this game is not bad. Still worthy to play!
