Today as i walk my dog, Westin, down my apartment--(but then still inside my apartment's complex)--to the garden just beside building 7..,I was happily walking him and sitting down there on the grass when Westin is happily running here and there, stealing one or two tennis ball, run away with it and throw it somewhere behind the bush..then as time goes by almost to 5.30pm, i decided to make one more round trip around the complex and headed back home~ when i see a group of people, the mom, the kids and the nanny surrounding one area part of the grass field.
I was curios~then when i got closer, i can see that they are trying to feed a dirty-looking baby bunny.
First i thought the bunny is theirs.Because..hey, u can find street cats, or street dogs--perhaps, but street bunny?
Then i said to the mom,"Ahh...soo cuutee!I also want to buy one myself.."(Thinking of my previous bunny back in Berlin)
Then the mom laughed,"Buy one? This one is not even owned by anybody! Why don't u take it back home?It seemed like the previous owner--maybe some local chinese kid bought it and then just leave it here--i dunno--maybe the parents don't allow..but it looked like it has been outside for a long time..!"
I was shocked,"Oh my!How could someone throw away a baby bunny just like that on the street! If someone don't bring it back home it will surely die!"
So i asked the mom, since i already have a dog..a westie as well!Who is famous for it's hunting skill--and i also see her daughter seems to be fond of the baby bunny,"Don't u want to take it back home?"
To my surprise she said calmly,"Oh, we are renting, so i don't want anything to happen to the furniture..."
I knew it right away..,I can't just walk away and pretend i didn't meet that baby bunny, so i decided to take it back home and give it some food and shower.
The daughter wanted it by the way, she wailed to her mom,"But i want a bunny!"
And the mom protested, tell her not to adopt the poor baby bunny.
Yeah alright, what the hell, i can adopt the poor baby, even though i am quite short in financial terms.
Then i picked the baby bunny up my chest,"Okay, i will bring you home.."
The mom said,"Oww..U are so kind..!"
"I love animal a lot..."I replied, thinking,"Yeah...,You should BE ABLE to bring it home! It's not like you are adopting a golden retriever or a German Shepperd(a big dog in these matter) which is costly for its food and everything else..and anyway it is only a baby! And a baby bunny! But then you are just going to leave it here to die...You found it first, didn't u?What if i didn't pass by here today?"
So i did bring it home, named him/her Pinky, since it is white and a bit pinkish in color, and i haven't found out its gender yet.
Gave Pinky some food from the fridge,carrot!--Well, that's all i can find at the moment--since i have a lot of bunny-raising experiences, i know that raising a bunny isn't that easy.I need to litter train the guy, give it constant access to water and grass(which is quite expensive and hard to find here in Shanghai-China), give a lot of attention and train the guy just like a puppy..., I was thinking to put Pinky on the net and perhaps somebody would want to adopt him.I don't know yet whether i can keep him or not, i am still unsure whether Westin wanted Pinky to be around.I need to introduce them both and look at my financial and time to raise Pinky.
Then i bathed Westin first, after that i bathed Pinky and blow-dry him.He looks clean and fresh now.
Ahh..he is only as big as my palm! And now Pinky is sleeping on the table in front of my monitor, cuddling between the clean, warm towel.
Who could ever throw away such a harmless-cute little baby bunny?!
Thinking of it, it makes me furious, Whoever did this is a very irresponsible human being!Throwing away a 6 weeks old? baby bunny! I am sure pinky does not exceed 6 weeks old in age!
Why bother buying? When u just going to throw it away into an open garden!
Luckily Pinky has not been attacked by some street cat or some big dogs!
To whoever did this, please rethink twice before ever adopting an animal ever again in your whole life!
At least, if you cannot take care of your pet anymore, make sure it got a good home!Don't just throw it away on the street!Especially a baby!

The bunny rabbit that i picked up from the street, has managed to find itself a new home in fang dian lu petshop which is just across the street from carrefour.
I can't be so selfish to keep him with me while i don't really have the time to be with him and give him the happiness he deserves. So i decided to take several visits to that pet shop and investigate the owner on how she treats the animals there.
To my satisfaction, she treats them well, so i am relieved to give Pinky to her side.I waited for several minutes after i handed Pinky over to her to see what she will do to Pinky. She immediately sets a new cage for Pinky, and give him water. I am satisfied. At least in the pet shop there might be some family to spot him and there is a bigger chance for Pinky to get adopted and be happy.
One more month and Pinky would have been bigger. At that time it will be very difficult for Pinky to get adopted. The smaller the better chance of him to get adopted. So i decided to let go of my ego and hand him over for his own future.
I wish you a happy and good luck, my dear Pinky...
